Me: How would you define your style?
Emily G.: Classic Contemporary
Me: Where do you usually like to shop? And what draws you to these places?
Emily G.: I love Anne Taylor. I also shop at Gap and Forever 21. I like Forever 21 because its young but fun. And at home I shop at the Salvation Army store and Ross. What I love most about shopping is the hunt for the right item and the right color.
Me: What influences your fashion decisions?
Emily G.: Color and what looks good on me. I also read fashion magazines like Vogue and In Style. From there I see what is in style and look for cheaper options.
Me: Do you have any fashion icons?
Emily G.: Coco Chanel and Audrey Hepburn
Me: What is your major?
Emily G.: Art
Me: What are your career goals and do you see your style changing as you pursue them?
Emily G.: I hope to get my masters in Art Education or Fine Arts. And from there I would like to teach art. I would like to dress professionally and wear power suits. But as an art teacher I might want to dress more interestingly with wild jewelry.
Me: What is your favorite article of clothing?
Emily G.: I love dresses but I don’t own very many. And I love my black jacket because I feel confident in it and it works for e, but I don’t think it is something that people would expect me to wear.
Me: What are you listening to, reading, watching right now?
Emily G.: I’ve been reading the Two Towers, J.R.R. Tolkien. And I have been watching Project Runway.

Me: How would you define your style?
Sara M.: Comfortable
Me: Where do you usually like to shop? And what draws you to these places?
Sara M.: Thrift stores, because they are cheap so you can get a lot of things. I alter my clothes a lot so not spending much is nice because if I make a mistake the clothes didn’t cost much to begin with.
Me: What influences your fashion decisions?
Sara M.: What I see. Artsy people around campus. I had an English professor at community college who wore the cutest outfits.
Me: What is your major?
Sara M.: Art
Me: What are your career goals and do you see your style changing as you pursue them?
Sara M.: To be an artist. I don’t see my style really changing.
Me: What is your favorite article of clothing?
Sara M.: Cardigans
Me: What are you listening to, reading, watching right now?
Sara M.: I’ve been watching The Office.

Me: How would you define your style?
Derek D.: Casual Indie, Thrifty
Me: What influences your fashion decisions?
Derek D.: I am influenced by people in my age group and the Music and Art subcultures.
I try to do things my own way. I’m not really influenced by Hollywood. I try to keep my style low budget. And I look for cheaper alternatives.
Me: Where do you usually shop? What do you like about these stores?
Derek D.: I try to shop at thrift stores. I guess the only name brand stores that I shop at are H & M and American Apparel. I like clothes that are cut to fit my body so I wear girl jeans. And I stick to my Walmart shoes. I choose to keep my style on a low budget as my personal vendetta against expensive clothes.
Me: What is your major?
Derek D.: Digital Media
Me: What are your career goals and do you see your style changing as you pursue them?
Derek D.: Right out of school I want to tour with my band. But I consider photography my career. I would like to work for Apple. I guess there might be a dress code there. But I think I would be bored if I had to dress formally for work every day. I hope to maintain the general style that I have now. As an artist I could do that.
Me: What are you listening to, reading, watching right now?
Derek D.: I’ve been watching Mystery Science Theater 3000, the Art 21 PBS series, and The Office. I’ve been reading On the Road by Kerouac. And I’ve been listening to This Will Destroy You and Caspian.

Me: How would you define your style?
Amanda R.: Sporty and Preppy
Me: Where do you usually shop? What do you like about these stores?
Amanda R.: My all time favorite store is American Eagle, because their clothes are so comfortable. I like Forever 21 because you can find cute, trendy things there for cheaper than other places. I also like to shop at sport stores
like Puma and Nike. I like classic baseball T-shirts with names on the
back or numbers, and also athletic shorts and tennis shoes
Me: What inspires your fashion decisions?
Amanda R.: The weather. I love to layer. And also sports. Speaking of which, this is my favorite shirt. It was my brother’s baseball tee shirt.
Me: Do you have any fashion icons?
Amanda R.: American Eagle advertisement models. Also anyone I see
wearing something that looks comfortable. I like to copy what other
people are wearing but add my own sporty style to it and probably
add a layer or two.
Me: What is your major?
Amanda R.: I am double majoring in English and Religion.
Me: What are your career goals and do you see your style changing as you pursue them?
Amanda R.: I would like to work for a publication company, possibly a Christian publication company. I like editing more than writing, but editing might lead to writing. I suppose I might have to dress up to work for a publishing company. But what I wear is pretty classic, not in an antique or old sense. Hopefully I can wear jeans and a nice top.
Me: What are you listening to, reading, watching right now?
Amanda R.: I just discovered The Weepies. My all time favorite is country music. I guess that might have an influence on my style with jeans and casual clothes. And I’ve been working on my thesis, so I’ve been reading a lot of Renaissance Drama. I love the clothes and culture of that time period.

Me: How would you define your style?
Bre D.: Cute and Cozy
Me: Where do you usually shop? What do you like about these stores?
Bre D.: I actually haven’t been shopping in a long time. I usually go to thrift stores and I borrow clothes from friends. I still wear a lot of my old clothes from high school. They are wearable, why not get all the use out of them that I can?
Me: What inspires your fashion decisions?
Bre D.: Comfort. I notice what’s going on in fashion and if I like it then I’ll add it to my style, but if its not comfortable I won’t usually wear it. I also notice what cute things my friends are wearing and borrow from them.
Me: Do you have any fashion icons?
Bre D.: Someone who wears whatever they like.
Me: Thats a beautiful coat. Where did you get it?
Bre D.: My old babysitter, Martha Tannehill (I call her Nanny) is 91 years old. She's a grandma to me, and a dear friend. I spent a lot of time with her this summer and she had a bunch of old clothes she doesn't wear anymore and since I'm around her size she was 30 years ago, she wanted to give me whatever I might get use out of.
Me: What is your major?
Bre D.: Psychology Religion
Me: What are your career goals and do you see your style changing as you pursue them?
Bre D.: I would like to work for a Non-profit. I can see myself working for a homeless shelter, or a soup kitchen, or being a housewife. As far as changing goes, I want to continue looking my age. I don’t want to be worried about fashion, but I don’t want to age myself with my clothing choices either.
Me: What are you listening to, reading, watching right now?
Bre D.: I’ve been listening to Girls in Diners. They always remind me of this time of year.
As I’ve been jogging, I have been listening to Rob Bell’s sermons. He is the pastor at Mars Hill. I have aspirations to read his books as well as Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne.

Me: How would you define your style?
Sarah K.: Funky, Fun, Creative
Me: Where do you like to shop? What do you like about these stores?
Sarah K.: Delias, they seem kind of creative and fun. Quality thrift stores like Rag-o-Rama and Plato’s Closet. Also Value City.
Me: What influences your fashion decisions?
Sarah K.: My personality. I look at magazines and media and I am fascinated by what people wear, but I don’t really copy them. I think that what I wear other people here wouldn't want to pull off.
I like the fashion in Korea. Its so colorful and pretty and cheap. I think it is interesting that a lot of people in Korea and here in Greenville assume I’m Japanese, just because of how I dress.
Me: Do you have any fashion icons?
Sarah K.: The Olsen Twins and the girls in Eisely. They have a Victorian Vintage style. That’s not really my style, but I think I would like to dress that way. And it is really coming back in style.
Me: Do you have a favorite article of clothing?
Sarah K.: Hoodies.
Me: What is your major? What are your career goals?
Sarah K.: My major is Music Business. I have lots of goals I would like to scout talent, work in Artist Development, and I would also like to help bands with their images like dressing them and things.
Me: Do you see your style changing after college?
Sarah K.: I think that being around trendy and fashionable people in the Music Business will be interesting and I might get ideas from them. I don’t want to dress the way I do now when I’m old. That would be weird.
Me: What are you listening to, reading, watching right now?
Sarah K.: I have been reading Prayer by Richard J. Foster. I’ve been listening to random stuff Celtic Woman, Bollywood music, Colbie Caillat, and Until June

Me: How would you define your style?
Susan S.: Sophisticate Rock ‘n’ Roll Chic
Me: Where do you like to shop? What do you like about these stores?
Susan S.: For basics like tee shirts and tank tops I shop at H & M and American Apparel. American Eagle and Levis for jeans. I like to look around Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, but I don’t buy things there very often because they are too expensive. But I look there for ideas and I shop around for cheaper versions at Target, Forever 21, Old Navy, and places like that.
Me: What influences your fashion decisions?
Susan S.: My mom, she is always so classy and sophisticated, like Jackie Kennedy. She always focuses on quality over quantity. In the 70s she sold jewelry and I get a lot of my jewelry from her closet.
Me: Do you have any fashion icons?
Susan S.: I really like Edie Sedgwick and the actress who plays her in the film Factory Girl, Sienna Miller. I really like her style, too.
Me: Do you have a favorite article of clothing?
Susan S.: I had this pair of cute, flowered, ballet flat tennis shoes in high school. I finally had to retire them a year ago and I haven’t been able to replace them.
Me: What is your major? What are your career goals?
Susan S.: I am a Psychology major. I want to pursue music after school. I’m planning on moving to Nashville.
Me: Do you see your style changing after college?
Susan S.: I think I will be more daring than I feel like I can be here Greenville. Even during the summer, I dress differently than during the school year. I think in a larger city like Nashville, there will be more freedom to be creative and daring.
Me: Are you working on any music projects right now?
Susan S.: I’m recording a solo album with my brother. And I’m playing acoustic shows around Illinois.
Me: How do you approach fashion when you are performing?
Susan S.: I feel like I dress a little more simply. I usually wear tee shirts, cardigans, and jeans and fewer accessories.
Me: What are you listening to, reading, watching right now?
Susan S.: I’ve been listening to the new Fiest CD, that’s one I always go back to. My brother got the new Thrice CD. I don’t like them that much, but this album is a two-disc concept album. One CD is chill and the other one is harder. I really like the chill one.
Some of my other favorite albums are: mewithoutyou - Brother, Sister, Radiohead – The Bends, and the new Eisley CD.
I like the Shopaholic Books by Sophie Kinsella. Right now I am on the Shopohlic & Sister.

Me: Where do you usually like to shop? And what draws you to these places?
Katie G.: I like cheap prices because I am a college student, but I don’t like cheap quality. So I shop at a lot of thrift stores and Target. Oh, Kohl’s has this new Vera Wang collection that I really like. I also go to the trendy stores like H&M and Urban Outfitters but they are usually too expensive and I rarely find things that I think are going to last a long time; I mean, things that won’t go out of fashion quickly.
Me: How would you define your style?
Katie G.: Vintage Classic. I like things that last and are timeless.
Me: What influences your fashion decisions?
Katie G.: Classic movies and the 1940s and 1950s. I think that timeless is a great word; it includes pointy-toed shoes, trench coats, trouser pants, and all those classics.
Me: What is your major?
Katie G.: I am a Biology/Chemistry double major and I have a Music minor.
Me: What are your career goals and do you see your style changing as you pursue them?
Katie G.: My style has definitely changed since being in college. When I started college five years ago, I was more punk-ish… unfortunately. But I have moved on to looking for things that look good and will last a long time. I plan to go to grad school and get my masters in public health and then I plan to go to med school. So I will want my style to look more professional.
Me: Do you have any fashion icons?
Katie G.: Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, and more currently Isaac Mizrahi, Vera Wang, and Alice Temperley (she’s a current Target designer from Britain).
Me: What is your favorite fashion find?
Katie G.: I call them “grandma shirts” they are these feminine blouses with lace, ruffles, and pretty buttons. Like the one I am wearing today. I also have sort of a ballet flat and jacket fetish; especially if the flats have pointy toes.
Me: What are you listening to, reading, watching right now?
Katie G.: I have been listening to Feist, the new Radiohead, the new Eisley and the Weepies. Right now I am reading A Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez.
I watch a lot of foreign movies and my current favorites include Amores Perros, Children of Heaven, and Whale Rider.
Me: How would you define your style?
Phil V.: Laid Back Indie Rock. It depends on the day, because I like to mix it up a little, but I am always influenced by musicians.
Me: What influences your fashion decisions?
Phil V.: A lot of times I see something I like from bands or friends. I am not really influenced by TV at all.
Me: Where do you like to shop?
Phil V.: I like to find clothes that are good and cheap, but I don’t mind splurging on the essential items. I’ve recently been introduced to H&M. (I got this hoodie there.) I like that it has this great European rocker style and is also not too expensive. It reminds me of this time I was in Germany; H&M looks like what everyone was wearing there.
Me: What is your major?
Phil V.: Right now I’m undeclared, but I’m thinking about going with Communication: Public Relations or Media Promotions.
Me: What are your career goals and do you see your style changing as you pursue them?
Phil V.: Well, like everyone here I would love to make it with music. Obviously that wouldn’t be forever I could end up working in PR for a label or in missions. As far as my style changing I don’t really think that a job will change it very much.
Me: What is your favorite article of clothing?
Phil V.: My favorite thing right now is my bright, striped H&M hoodie. I love hoodies in general. My favorite basic outfit would be jeans and a hoodie. I used to have this sweet blazer but I lost it.
Me: What are you listening to, reading, watching right now?
Phil V.: I’ve been listening to Paramore they were on Conan the other night but I missed it, Get Up Kids, and Men Women & Children. Living in the dorms I watch what everyone else on the floor is watching lately that’s been Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and the Cosby Show.
I wish I had more time to read than I do. I need to finish up Searching for God Knows What and the Harry Potter series. I’m still on the 5th book. And I heard that I need to read Velvet Elvis.
